Supports Transport

NDIS Transport and Travel Support in the Sunshine Coast

Getting to appointments, work, study and the things you want to do. In a worker’s vehicle, or on public transport as a skill you are building.

Heading out for the day

Getting there is half the barrier

A lot of what stops people doing things is not the thing itself, it is the trip. No licence, no car, a bus route that does not go there, or anxiety about the trip. Transport support removes that barrier, either by driving you or by building the skill to get there yourself.

It usually sits inside community access or daily living support and not as a separate service: the worker who takes you to the appointment is the worker who supports you through it.

How it is funded depends on your plan. Some plans include a transport allowance; some fund the worker’s time and travel under community access. We work out which applies before the first trip so there are no surprises.

Where people go

Anywhere. These come up most.

Appointments

Medical, therapy, NDIS meetings. Getting there, and support through it if you want it.

Work and study

The regular trips that make a job or a course possible.

Community access

Outings, groups, the shops, the beach. The trip is part of the support.

Coffee, games and community

Our free weekly group. Ask about transport if getting there is the problem.

Travel training

Learning the bus, the train, the route, so that eventually you do not need us.

Family and friends

The visits that drop away first when getting there is hard.

Where we work

Across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay

The same team and the same approach wherever you are. If you are just outside these areas, ask us. We will say yes or no.

Clear costs

No surprises on the invoice.

Transport costs under the NDIS are specific and we tell you the arrangement before anything is booked.

  • Insured vehicles and licensed workers
  • The cost arrangement agreed in writing first
  • Travel training if you want to get there yourself
  • The same worker who supports you at the other end

Questions about transport

Do you provide transport on its own?

Usually it is part of community access or daily living support: the worker drives you and supports you at the other end. Transport alone, with no other support, depends on your plan and we will tell you whether it works.

What does it cost my plan?

It depends on how your plan funds transport. Some include a transport allowance; some fund the worker’s time and per-kilometre travel under Core. We work out which applies before the first trip and put it in writing.

Can I learn to use public transport instead?

Yes, and for a lot of people that is the goal. A worker travels with you until the route is familiar, then steps back.

Are your workers’ vehicles insured?

Yes. Workers who transport participants have appropriate insurance and a current licence, and we verify both.

Where do you keep not getting to?

Tell us. We will work out the trip.
