The team

Meet the team behind our NDIS supports

The people who turn up. You will meet whoever supports you before their first shift, and you will keep seeing the same faces. That is the whole point of staying small.

Matheus, Director of The Energy Community and Supports

Director

Matheus (Matt)

A Social Worker who has also worked as a Support Worker, Case Manager and Team Leader. Matt studied marketing and design in Brazil before deciding, in Australia, to become a Social Worker, finishing his Master of Social Work in 2020.

He worked as a Case Manager with the NDIS and in Child Safety residentials before going back to support work, and started The Energy at the end of 2023 after enough people told him he should. He works to a community development framework: bottom-up, strengths-based, and focused on empowerment.

Being Brazilian, Matt thinks fun is essential, which is why he is involved in football and cultural activities, and why the Brazilian drumming turns up.

Charne, Director of The Energy Community and Supports

Director

Charne

A Support Worker living in the Sunshine Coast, who moved here after completing a Bachelor of Psychology at Monash University in Melbourne.

She spent three years working with at-risk and vulnerable young people in out-of-home residential care under Child Safety, specialising in managing extreme and antisocial behaviours arising from mental health, trauma and neglect. That work is about building resilience, setting and reaching goals, developing life skills and emotional regulation, and it gave her real experience in high-risk situations.

Her practice centres on autonomy: support that builds a person’s own capacity.

Being in this line of work is a passion and a blessing, and I am extremely excited to see what the future holds.

Clair, HR and Governance Lead at The Energy Community and Supports

HR and Governance Lead

Clair

An experienced people, governance and operations professional, with a background in human resources, recruitment, compliance and leadership across the NDIS, health, education and government sectors.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Clair lived in Hong Kong for three years before emigrating to Australia in 2003, and has built a career across South East Queensland since, in senior roles across NDIS service delivery, allied health, not-for-profits, private business ownership and Queensland Government.

At The Energy she is the HR and Governance Lead, overseeing people, governance and compliance: recruitment, employment frameworks, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance and the systems that sit behind safe, accountable service delivery, kept practical for the people who use them.

Late diagnosed with ASD Level 1, Clair works to give neurodivergent people a stronger voice in workplaces and support services, and advocates for inclusive, practical systems that support people and do not create barriers.

Kiara, Case Manager at The Energy Community and Supports

Case Manager

Kiara

Kiara supports individuals and families engaged with the NDIS and Child Safety, with a particular focus on children and young people who need consistency, safety and a trusted relationship before anything else can work.

She has a background in high-complexity behaviour and a specific niche supporting children and teenagers on the autism spectrum, including where behaviour is shaped by mental health challenges and trauma. She is the person who stays steady when a situation is overwhelming, and stays present when others would step back.

Underneath it is a straightforward belief that people are far more than their behaviours, and that progress should move at someone’s own pace.

Support workers

There are more of us than this.

The four above run the organisation. The support workers are the ones you will see most, and we are happy to share their profiles so you know who is coming before they arrive.

  • Support worker profiles available on request
  • You meet a worker before their first shift
  • If it is not a fit, you say so and we find someone else

What you can expect from any of us

Whoever turns up, these hold.

01

We introduce ourselves first

Nobody lets themselves into your home. A new worker is introduced by someone you already know, before they start.

02

Your way, not ours

How you like things done is written down and followed, so you are not re-explaining it to every new person.

03

You can say no

To a worker, to an activity, to a suggestion. Saying no does not need a reason and does not affect anything else.

Want to join the team?

We are usually looking for support workers across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay.
