Sunshine Coast Registered NDIS provider
NDIS social work in the Sunshine Coast.
Led by a practitioner with a Master of Social Work and years inside Queensland Child Safety. Not a coordinator with a caseload, but a qualified social worker who can sit in the hard conversations.
When a plan needs a practitioner, not a roster.
Some things in a person’s life do not resolve with more support hours. They need someone qualified to hold the situation.
Family and Child Safety involvement
Where a household is working with Child Safety at the same time as the NDIS, and the two systems are asking for different things. We hold both at once because we have worked on both sides of it.
Risk that keeps recurring
Housing that keeps falling through, relationships that keep breaking down, a pattern that support hours alone do not shift. Assessment, safety planning, and a practitioner who stays with it.
Advocacy and the paperwork wall
Reports, reviews, evidence, and the letters nobody wants to write. Written by someone who knows what the reader is looking for.
Psychosocial disability
Support that moves at the pace of the person, on the days that are good and the days that are not, without the plan starting again each time a worker changes.
What we will not do.
We will not tell you we can fix a situation, solve your family, or sort out a system on your behalf. That is not how this works and it is not our decision to make.
What we will do is bring a qualified view, say what we think is happening, and stay in the room while you decide what to do about it. The choices stay yours.
If we are not the right fit for what you are dealing with, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
Common questions
Do I need social work in my plan already?
Not necessarily. Social work is usually funded under Improved Daily Living or Improved Relationships, and sometimes under Capacity Building more broadly. Send through what is in your plan. We will read it and say what it looks like it covers.
Is this counselling?
No. Social work here is practical: assessment, planning, advocacy, and working alongside the other services already involved. If what you need is therapy, we will say so and help you find it.
Can you work with Child Safety at the same time?
Yes, and it is one of the reasons people come to us. We hold both Queensland Child Safety and NDIS funded work, so a family does not have to explain themselves twice to two providers who never speak to each other.
How quickly can you start?
Current capacity and turnaround are published on the coordinators page and kept current, so you are not chasing an answer we already know.
Which budget pays for social work?
Usually Capacity Building, under Improved Daily Living. Unlike Core, Capacity Building funding is tied to its category and cannot be moved across. Bring your plan and we will tell you what it allows before you commit.
What qualification do your social workers hold?
A Master of Social Work. Both directors hold one, and their background includes NDIS case management and Queensland Child Safety residential care.
Can you write a report for my plan reassessment?
Yes. A report that describes function, which is what you can and cannot do on a given day and what happens without support, carries far more weight with a planner than one that restates a diagnosis.
Do you do behaviour support plans?
No. That needs an NDIS behaviour support practitioner, and we will refer you to one. We can support the work around it.
Can you come to a Child Safety meeting with me?
Yes. Sitting in the room, reading the paperwork beforehand and following up afterwards is a normal part of the work.
Which NDIS budget pays for social work
Social work is usually funded from Capacity Building, under Improved Daily Living, and not from the Core budget that pays for support hours. Capacity Building money is tied to the category it was funded in and cannot be moved across to Core the way Core funds move between themselves.
Some social work sits under Improved Relationships where a plan is funded for it. Letters and reports supporting a plan reassessment are normally claimed against the same line as the assessment work. Bring the plan and we will read the budget page with you before you commit to anything.
