Who we support Trauma

Trauma Informed Support in the Sunshine Coast

Support delivered at your pace, with safety and consistency first. The same workers each time, introduced before they start.

Safety first, then everything else

For people living with PTSD or complex trauma, the way support is delivered matters as much as what it is. Unfamiliar people, unpredictable plans and being told what to do all work against you. So we do the opposite: familiar people, predictable plans, and choice at every point.

The same workers each time, introduced before they start. A backup you have also met. Nothing that arrives unannounced. And an agreed way to stop, pause or leave that needs no explanation.

The team is led by a Master of Social Work with Child Safety and crisis experience, and every worker who supports someone with a trauma history is briefed on what that means in practice, not just in principle.

What we mean by trauma informed

It is a way of working, not a badge. In practice it means these things.

Choice

You decide what happens, when, and with whom. We ask, every time. We do not assume.

Predictability

The same worker, the same routine, and no surprises. Changes are agreed with you first.

Consistency

We stay. A hard week does not change who turns up.

Control

An agreed way to stop, pause or leave any situation, with no explanation owed.

Working with your team

We coordinate with your clinician when you want us to, and never behind your back.

Trained people

Workers briefed on your history to the extent you choose, and on how to respond well.

Where we work

Across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay

The same team and the same approach wherever you are. If you are just outside these areas, ask us. We will say yes or no.

Starting out

Small and quiet is the right way to begin.

The first session can be short, familiar and low key. Trust builds from that, not from a plan.

  • Meet your worker before anything is agreed
  • Places we have been before, at quiet times
  • An agreed exit, no questions asked
  • Stepping back as you want us to, not on a timetable
Talk it through

Questions about trauma informed support

Will I have to explain my history?

No. You share what you want to, when you want to. What workers need to know to support you well can be worked out with you, and it can be very little.

What if I cannot face a session?

Cancel, shorten it or change it. There is no penalty for a hard day and no one will talk you into going.

Can you support me alongside my psychologist?

Yes, and we would rather. We work alongside your treating team and coordinate with them only with your say-so.

What does Child Safety experience mean here?

One of our directors worked in Child Safety before founding The Energy. It means the team has real experience with complex situations and with keeping people safe, not just a policy that says so.

Start with whatever feels manageable.

We will go at that pace, and we will still be here next week.
