Supports Respite
NDIS Respite and Short Term Accommodation, Sunshine Coast
Planned and short notice respite so families get a real break and supports keep running. In your home, in the community, or away.

What respite is
Respite is support that gives the people who care for you a break, and gives you a change. It can be a worker in your home for a day or an evening, a few hours out in the community, or a stay somewhere else for a night or several.
The NDIS funds it in different ways depending on how it is structured. Short term accommodation is the plan’s term for a stay away from home with support included, and it has specific rules. We work out what applies to you before anything is booked, in writing, so there are no surprises.
We are also building respite packages: planned breaks built around a place: the hinterland, the coast, camping, the city. If that appeals, see the respite packages page and register your interest.

Where we work
Across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay
The same team and the same approach wherever you are. If you are just outside these areas, ask us. We will say yes or no.
For carers
You are allowed to need a break.
Respite is not a failure. It is the thing that lets you keep going. We will make it as easy to arrange as we can.
- A worker your family member already knows, wherever possible
- Funding worked out in writing before anything is booked
- Short notice assessed, not promised
- Planned respite that becomes a routine

Questions about respite
What is the difference between respite and short term accommodation?
Respite is the purpose: a break for carers and a change for the participant. Short term accommodation is one way of funding it: a stay away from home with support, food and activities included, under specific NDIS rules. Not all respite is STA and we will tell you which applies.
Can you do emergency respite?
We will always try, and we will tell you quickly what we can staff. Call, do not email, if it is urgent.
Where does away-from-home respite happen?
It depends on what is arranged. Our respite packages, when they launch, will be built around specific places. Ask us about what is currently available.
How much notice do you need?
For planned respite, as much as you can give. Holiday weeks book out. For short notice, call and we will tell you straight away.
When did you last have a break?
Tell us what would help. We will work out how to make it happen.
